The City of Nogales, AZ., and Nogales, Sonora, MX., has come together to host the “Fiesta Mexicana de Beisbol de los dos Nogales,” on July 20-22,2013. The city governments have been collaborating to host annual cultural and sports events to benefit both communities.
The series of games will be played under the Mexican Pacific League and will be hosted on both sides of the border. The match ups will be played on Alberto Hoeffer Stadium in Mexico and Memorial Park in Arizona. The teams playing that will be participating are “Los Naranjeros” from Hermosillo, Sonora, MX., the “Yaquis” from Obregon, Sonora, MX., the “Caneros” from Los Mochis, Sinaloa, MX., and the “Mayos” from Navojoa, Sonora, MX..
“The principal idea for the event is to unite both cities locally and state-wide,” “City of Nogales, Sonora, Mayor Ramon Guzman Munoz personally guaranteed the safety and security of the events,” said a press release from the City of Nogales, Sonora, MX.
