The celebratory dinner meeting included fantastic entertainment provided by the Nogales High School Mariachi Apache. The award wining group played a number of traditional mariachi tunes for us before and during dinner. Following the entertainment, Assistant District Governor Martha Grijalva presented awards of appreciation for many years of service to several of our members. Honored were Paul Bracker, 29 years of service, Michael Scott for 26 years of service and Paul Hathaway for 19 years of service. Not resent but also honored were L. Hunter Nash, 23 years of service and George Papachoris, 26 years of service. The highlight of the evening’s activities was the outstanding presentation from the members of the GSE team. Each of the members of the team introduced themselves and did a video presentation about their homeland and their life in their hometown. President Jorge resented our club banner to each member of the GSE team and received a banner from their area Rotary clubs in exchange. Capping the evening was the announcement of the winners of the silent action that was held to raise funds for Polio Plus. Our club raised close to $500 for Polio Plus with the auction and the proceeds of the raffle that night. Everyone present had a great time and we had over 75 people in attendance at the function. Our thanks to Patty Reyes, Sigrid Maitrejean, Martha Grijalva and Diane Scott for all their work in putting the event together. Also thanks to all the Rotarians that showed up. It was a fantastic evening.
