Rio Rico High School Class of 2018 held their graduation ceremony, on Thursday, May 24th, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. The Rio Rico Marching Hawks Band played from the lower field, while the soon to be graduates came down the stairways in their customized graduation attire. From every angle of the field stadium, friends, school faculty, and family were able to see the graduates walking down the stairs in their red & black caps and gowns. The stage where the soon to be graduates was decorated in red, black, gold and white. The soon to be graduates passed through a red, black, gold and white balloon arch frame before taking their seats on the center field. The commencement speeches by community leaders and school valedictorian offered words of encouragement for the soon to be graduates for them to continue to pursue their dreams.
After the speeches, the graduates awaited patiently for the announcement of their diplomas. There was no need for words to express the excitement, and pride they felt. As their names began to be announced cheers from the crowd filled the airwaves. One by one the graduates went to pick up their diplomas. Towards the end of the ceremony and closing statements, the graduates threw their caps into the air to express their accomplishments. A colorful display of fireworks and cheers filled the airwaves from the graduates, family and staff members, as you could hear the excitement from every corner of the field.
