EMS Providers to Recognize SCVUSD Students

Southern Arizona EMS providers will recognize four students who, by using CPR, helped save the life of their wrestling coach when he suffered multiple heart attacks after practice on October 14, 2013. RRHS Senior, Ben Noriega, Signs Scholarship Agreement with Central AZ College

Rio Rico High School’s track-and-field champion, Ben Noriega, has signed a Cross Country, track-and-field scholarship with Central Arizona College in Coolidge, AZ. Noriega’s scholarship will pay for tuition, books and athletic gear and equipment. SCVUSD Students Sweep Awards in Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge Art Contest

Coatimundi Middle School students won first, second, third and fourth place awards in the 5th Annual Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge Art Contest in the 6-8 grade category. SCVUSD students from Calabasas Middle School and Rio Rico High School again won at the Coronado Area Special Olympics Bowling Competition held at Golden Pin Lanes, Tucson. RRHS Student Selected as NHRP Scholar

Joel Leyva, Rio Rico High School senior, received word from The College Board that he is a 2013-2014 National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP) Scholar, recognizing him as an “academically exceptional Hispanic/Latino student.” According to The College Board, this year the NHRP selected 5,300 Hispanic/Latino students from a pool of over 259,000 candidates for this distinction.
