The Fresh Produce Association of the Americas hosted their 48th Annual Convention and Golf Tournament at the Tubac Golf Resort and Spa in Tubac, Arizona on November 3-5. The convention kicked off on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. The morning session focused on “Food Safety.” It also included an inspirational talk from DeDe Murcer Moffett, speaker/author of the book SNAP Yes the Art of Seeing New Achievable Possibilities in Business and Life. The day ended with a “Season Kickoff” on discovering trends in the import industry as the FPAA revealed its new import report on the gains and losses of the market.
It convention also included a panel of growers within the industry that gave their projections on the coming 2016-17 season. In the evening, attendees had an opportunity to enjoy a fun evening of food, entertainment, and hospitality, which featured the sounds of the Flamenco rock band Tesoro.
On Friday, the convention kicked of their golf registration, shotgun start, culinary showcase, helicopter rides, gala event and “Pillars of the FPAA Awards Ceremony.” The convention concluded on Saturday with the 5K run/walk and golf tournament. This fun filled event helps to raise money to help fund salad bar equipment for schools within the area to help instill healthy eating habits for children attending school in Santa Cruz County.
