Girl Scout troops of Santa Cruz County (SCC) celebrated World Thinking Day 2013 on February 23, 2013 at Desert Shadows Middle School. World Thinking Day gives the girl scouts a chance to celebrate international friendships and remind them that the Girl Scouts is a global community.
Many local troops participated in the event this year, which treated the community to a tour around the world. The troops were assigned countries that they need to represent in the event from clothing, customs and cuisine.
“Our troop was assigned Japan so we set up a display that had information about the country with several items on display,” said participating Girl Scout volunteer Renee Felix. “Our scouts wore traditional Japanese garments called kimonos and we served delicious Teriyaki chicken,” concluded Felix.
The very successful event began at 11 a.m. and concluded at 2 p.m. The SCC Girls Scouts are an exciting organization, which teaches our youth and works hard for the community so be sure to support our local troops.
